BIO - BRIDGETTE K. RAMASODI
BRIDGETTE K. RAMASODI currently serves the greater non-profit community as a Subscriptions Assistant for the Pacifica Network’s KPFK Radio (90.7 FM-Los Angeles/98.7 FM-Santa Barbara). She uses her extensive marketing and office administration experience, as well as her ability to communicate well in a multi-cultural, public service environment, to serve the needs of others within her communities at home and abroad in South Africa. Prior to entering Subscriptions, Ms. Ramasodi joined the listener-sponsored network as Assistant to the General Manager. She utilized her skills obtained as a Marketing Assistant for the South African Tourism Board to segue into similar responsibilities as an Event Coordinator for Travelogia.com and Senior Flight Attendant with Omni Air International. She attributes her drive to improve the quality of lives of women and children inflicted with HIV/AIDS to her desire that every mother and daughter can experience the same loving, healthy relationship that she shares with her daughter, unfiltered and uninterrupted by the trials and challenges of the dreaded syndrome. “I am passionate about the project, because I survived brutality in Soweto in 1990, during a time when the country was on the verge of change. Also, I see many of my HIV-positive sisters facing limited resources, while having to care for themselves and their children,” Ms. Ramasodi shares. Ultimately, Ms. Ramasodi wishes to give lifesaving education, and resources to the people because the impact of the disease is most devastating to women and children. “As a single mother, I realize the challenges and responsibilities involved and I want to be there for the voiceless and faceless women in the townships. I remind myself that even though I left Soweto, I never forgot all the people I left behind, especially the vulnerable women, and men in the community bound by limited resources and under employment. South Africa is a magnificent place with warm people, it is a place with a kaleidoscope of colors, culture and flavors and now AIDS threatens to erase the entire nation,” she shares.
“Ubuntu”I am what I am because of who we all are.
